Cover Reveal for The Prince’s Bride

January 23, 2024

I’m delighted to share the gorgeous cover of my new book, The Prince’s Bride, which drops Tuesday, May 21.

This is the second book in my Hidden Royals series, about exiled royalty hiding inside England after fleeing turmoil in their home country as children.

The Prince’s Bride follows Lady Marianne Daventry as she searches for the long-lost prince to whom she was betrothed as a baby. If she doesn’t find him, she’ll be forced to marry his abusive successor. The missing prince, Gabriel d’Orleans, is alive and well but living like a recluse in a forest cave. He’s become a rugged Horse Whisperer and has no wish to be found. Gabriel’s journey to re-enter society with Lady Marianne is their path to love.

The tropes here are, “Raised by Wolves,” an Arranged Marriage/Marriage-of-Convenience combo, with a little Green Card and The Lion King thrown in….

Pre-order links are up for this wild, funny, sexy book. Watch this space for an excerpt coming soon….

‘Say Yes’ to My New Series this July!

February 13, 2023

I’m thrilled to announce my new trilogy, Hidden Royals, from Avon Books. The series will launch in July 2023 with the first book, Say Yes to the Princess.

Hidden Royals follows a European family who flees chaos in their home country and exiles in England. The children—two princesses and a prince—are separated, hunted, and hidden, and they grow up partly British and secretly royal.

Book One follows the oldest sister, Princess Elise d’Orleans, who is granted sanctuary by the British royal family inside St. James’s Palace. She’s the ideal houseguest until…she makes a chance sighting of her long, lost brother. When she mounts up a search to find him, her welcome with the British royal family wears thin. St. James’s Palace agreed to harbor the girl, not answer probing questions or ruffle diplomatic feathers. To subdue the meddlesome princess, the palace hires Mr. Killian Crewes—their cynical, world-weary “Royal Fixer.”

Elise is too high-ranking to be told what to do, so Mr. Crewes is tasked with seducing the princess until she’s so infatuated, she loses interest in her meddling. Imagine Killian’s shock when he finds himself dazzled by the lonely, innocent princess instead.

This is a funny, spirited royal romp, steeped in the trope of fake seduction. There’s also an overturned carriage, a burning house, and a Grand Gesture. I’m delighted to launch this series with Killian’s and Elise’s journey…as well as teeing up Book Two, which will be the story of Elise’s missing brother, Prince Gabriel d’Orleans.

Pe-order links are available now for Say Yes to the Princess; and the book comes out in paperback, ebook, and audiobook on July 11, 2032.

A Duchess By Midnight is Here!

July 26, 2022

I’m thrilled to share the story of Miss Drewsmina Trelayne and Ian Clayblack, the Duke of Lachlan in A Duchess by Midnight. The novel, which is #3 in my “Awakened by a Kiss” series, comes out today in paperback, digital, and audio.

A Duchess by Midnight is the story of a so-called “wicked stepsister” who has changed her attitude and outlook and works with awkward debutantes to help them feel more confident. She is hired as professional stylist for the wild-child nieces of the Duke of Lachlan and discovers wild feelings for her new boss as well.

The tropes here are “caught in the act”/forced-to-marry, make-overs, governess+employer, and a little bit of Ugly Duckling on the side. It’s full of heat, heart, and humor — and early reviews have been glowing.

“The hallmarks of a Charis Michaels novel are a fast pace, humor, and an over-the-top plot…and A Duchess by Midnight follows suit. It’s the perfect vacation read, stay-cation read, or simply an escape from your day-to-day.”

I hope readers enjoy Drew and Lachlan’s story as much as I enjoyed exploring the world of Cinderella to write it. Look for A Duchess by Midnight at your favorite bookstore or order from any of these digital retailers, including signed copies from my local independent bookstore Old Town Books in Alexandria, Virginia (they ship nationwide!).

Read a Slice of A Duchess By Midnight

June 30, 2022

I love giving sneak peeks to my  upcoming books, and A Duchess by Midnight is no exception. We’re a month away from publication day, which seems like the perfect time to share the first two chapters.

This free preview introduces Miss Drewsmina “Drew” Trelayne and Ian Clayblack, the Duke of Lachlan. Miss Trelayne aspires to open her own finishing school and Lachlan is in need of a stylist for his two long-lost nieces. While the effort to polish the twin girls becomes a family affair; the attraction between the duke and Miss Trelyane heats up in private. When the entire household stumbles upon Lachlan and Miss Trelyane in a passionate embrace, the duke is given no choice but to marry her. But can a marriage made in haste be love’s saving grace?

A Duchess by Midnight is the third book in my “Awakened by a Kiss” series, which follows up on sideline characters from fairy tales. In this book, Cinderella’s (former) wicked stepsister finally has her own happily-ever-after.

The book drops Tuesday, July 26 in print, digital, and audio and you can pre-order from your favorite eRetailer now or request a signed copy from my favorite indie bookstore, Old Town Books in Alexandria, Virginia.

Cover Reveal: A Duchess by Midnight

January 31, 2022

It gives me such great pleasure to reveal the cover to my upcoming book, A Duchess by Midnight, out Tuesday, July 26th.

This is the third and final book in my Awakened by a Kiss sereis, which gives the happily-ever-after treatment to overlooked sideline characters from fairytales. A Duchess by Midnight catches up with a stepsister from Cinderella, pairing Finishing School instructor, Miss Drewsmina Trelayne, with Ian Clayblack, the Duke of Lachlan, and his wayward nieces.

The lush and colorful cover captures the vivacity, whimsy, and heat of this book, and I couldn’t be more pleased to book-end the trilogy with these beautiful models and radiant art.

Although this book won’t drop until summer, pre-order links are up now. Watch this space for an excerpt coming soon. In the meantime, you can read the back-cover copy alongside the cover art.

When You Wish Upon A Duke is Here!

August 24, 2021

I’m thrilled to see my 8th novel, When You Wish Upon A Duke, hit stores, eReaders, and eardrums (audio book!) today. I’ve been a fan of this heroine, Miss Isobel Tinker, since I first conceived the idea of Tinkerbell in Regency, England.

This is the second book in my Awakened By A Kiss series, which features sideline characters from fairy tales who get their own happy ending. The first book, A Duchess A Day, followed The Huntsman from Snow White, and I’m putting the finishing touches on the final book, which is inspired by a stepsister from Cinderella. I’ve had so much fun with these books—I’m calling them “fairy-tale adjacent”—and have loved hearing readers find all the Disney references and plot twists and turns that align (or not) with the source material.

I’ve posted an excerpt of When You Wish Upon A Duke plus all the buying options, including a choice to order a signed copy from my local, independent bookstore. I’m also very active on Instagram and love interacting with readers there, follow me @CharisMichaels. Happy reading!

When You Wish for an Excerpt…

August 5, 2021

I’m thrilled to share a sneak peek of my new book, When You Wish Upon A Duke.

This is book 2 of my Awakened By A Kiss series, which follow sideline characters from fairy tales to their own happily-ever-after. While Book 1, A Duchess A Day, told the story of the Huntsman from Snow White, When You Wish Upon A Duke is inspired by Tinkerbell from Peter Pan.

Miss Isobel Tinker spent her childhood cavorting around Europe with a fast crowd. Now she works in a London Travel shop, using her experience and language skills to live a safe, reliable life.

Jason “North” Beckett, the duke of Northumberland, desperately needs a translator for his last mission with the Foreign Office. Isobel Tinker seems ideal, discreet and unknown, but she’s also uncooperative, stubborn, and disarmingly beautiful.

Passion and adventure sizzle as they battle pirates and their magnetic attraction to each other in this sweeping re-imagining of Tinkerbell in Regency England.

I cordially invite you to lean-in to summer with this whimsical excerpt and peruse the order links for the book! The paperback will be available in stores on August 24. Signed copies + free swag can be ordered from my local, independent bookstore, Old Town Books. Digital eBooks and the audiobook can be ordered from your favorite eRetailer.

Cover Reveal + Blurb for When You Wish Upon a Duke!

March 12, 2021

It gives me great pleasure to unleash the stunning cover to my new book! When You Wish Upon A Duke will be released in print, digital, and audio on August 24, 2021, but you can read a synopsis right now.

Inspired by the fairy-tale world of Peter Pan, When You Wish Upon a Duke follows Miss Isobel Tinker, a clerk in a Mayfair travel agency and Jason “North” Beckett, the Duke of Northumberland, on a voyage of passion, trust, and ultimately love.

When You Wish Upon a Duke is Book 2 in my Awakened by a Kiss trilogy, which gives the happily-ever-after treatment to sideline characters from fairy tales. Watch for allusions to Neverland, pirates, pixie dust, and a handsome duke for our Tinkerbell-inspired heroine.

This is the perfect summer read; wild, hilarious, and hot. Pre-order in print, ebook, or audiobook from your favorite retailer today!

A Duchess A Day Out Now!

November 10, 2020

I’m thrilled to celebrate release day for my seventh novel, A Duchess A Day, out now in paperback, digital, and audiobook from HarperCollins-Avon.

This book, which is part bodyguard, part runaway bride, is the first in my new Awakened by a Kiss series. Inspired by the world of fairy tales, “A Duchess A Day” gives a Regency-England happy ending to the Huntsman from Snow White. Subsequent books in this series will follow up on Tinkerbell from Peter Pan and one of the stepsisters from Cinderella.

After six previous books available only through eRetailers, A Duchess A Day is my first mass-market release, which means distribution in brick-and-mortar stores as well as an audio version. What a thrill after more than 15 years of writing to finally see Charis Michaels paperbacks in stores and to hear my work read by talented narrator Morag Sims.

This “second debut” could not have happened with a sweeter, more fun book. I’m hoping readers, new and old, will join Lady Helena and mercenary Declan Shaw on their journey to love. Take advantage of the many ways to order, download, or listen today!
