I’m thrilled to see my 8th novel, When You Wish Upon A Duke, hit stores, eReaders, and eardrums (audio book!) today. I’ve been a fan of this heroine, Miss Isobel Tinker, since I first conceived the idea of Tinkerbell in Regency, England.
This is the second book in my Awakened By A Kiss series, which features sideline characters from fairy tales who get their own happy ending. The first book, A Duchess A Day, followed The Huntsman from Snow White, and I’m putting the finishing touches on the final book, which is inspired by a stepsister from Cinderella. I’ve had so much fun with these books—I’m calling them “fairy-tale adjacent”—and have loved hearing readers find all the Disney references and plot twists and turns that align (or not) with the source material.
I’ve posted an excerpt of When You Wish Upon A Duke plus all the buying options, including a choice to order a signed copy from my local, independent bookstore. I’m also very active on Instagram and love interacting with readers there, follow me @CharisMichaels. Happy reading!

This is book 2 of my Awakened By A Kiss series, which follow sideline characters from fairy tales to their own happily-ever-after. While Book 1, A Duchess A Day, told the story of the Huntsman from Snow White, When You Wish Upon A Duke is inspired by Tinkerbell from Peter Pan.
Miss Isobel Tinker spent her childhood cavorting around Europe with a fast crowd. Now she works in a London Travel shop, using her experience and language skills to live a safe, reliable life.
Jason “North” Beckett, the duke of Northumberland, desperately needs a translator for his last mission with the Foreign Office. Isobel Tinker seems ideal, discreet and unknown, but she’s also uncooperative, stubborn, and disarmingly beautiful.
Passion and adventure sizzle as they battle pirates and their magnetic attraction to each other in this sweeping re-imagining of Tinkerbell in Regency England.
I cordially invite you to lean-in to summer with this whimsical excerpt and peruse the order links for the book! The paperback will be available in stores on August 24. Signed copies + free swag can be ordered from my local, independent bookstore, Old Town Books. Digital eBooks and the audiobook can be ordered from your favorite eRetailer.

It gives me great pleasure to unleash the stunning cover to my new book! When You Wish Upon A Duke will be released in print, digital, and audio on August 24, 2021, but you can read a synopsis right now.
Inspired by the fairy-tale world of Peter Pan, When You Wish Upon a Duke follows Miss Isobel Tinker, a clerk in a Mayfair travel agency and Jason “North” Beckett, the Duke of Northumberland, on a voyage of passion, trust, and ultimately love.
When You Wish Upon a Duke is Book 2 in my Awakened by a Kiss trilogy, which gives the happily-ever-after treatment to sideline characters from fairy tales. Watch for allusions to Neverland, pirates, pixie dust, and a handsome duke for our Tinkerbell-inspired heroine.
This is the perfect summer read; wild, hilarious, and hot. Pre-order in print, ebook, or audiobook from your favorite retailer today!

I’m thrilled to celebrate release day for my seventh novel, A Duchess A Day, out now in paperback, digital, and audiobook from HarperCollins-Avon.
This book, which is part bodyguard, part runaway bride, is the first in my new Awakened by a Kiss series. Inspired by the world of fairy tales, “A Duchess A Day” gives a Regency-England happy ending to the Huntsman from Snow White. Subsequent books in this series will follow up on Tinkerbell from Peter Pan and one of the stepsisters from Cinderella.
After six previous books available only through eRetailers, A Duchess A Day is my first mass-market release, which means distribution in brick-and-mortar stores as well as an audio version. What a thrill after more than 15 years of writing to finally see Charis Michaels paperbacks in stores and to hear my work read by talented narrator Morag Sims.
This “second debut” could not have happened with a sweeter, more fun book. I’m hoping readers, new and old, will join Lady Helena and mercenary Declan Shaw on their journey to love. Take advantage of the many ways to order, download, or listen today!

I was thrilled to receive a starred review for A Duchess A Day in Kirkus Reviews!
The review appeared October 14th and touts, “Regency meets fairy tale in this lighthearted romance series opener.”
It goes on to say, “The lead characters propel the story….The way they work together and revel in each other’s company is so joyful.”
My favorite line is, “This entertaining romance leans into its fairy-tale roots with just the right amount of over-the-top whimsy.”
A Duchess A Day pairs runaway bride Helena Lark with bodyguard Declan Shaw. The hardened mercenary is hired to contain Lady Helena’s repeated attempts at escape but she ropes him into helping her instead. It’s Book 1 in my new Awakened by a Kiss trilogy, which tells the stories of sideline characters from fairy tales. A Duchess a Day is inspired by Snow White and gives the happily-ever-after treatment to The Huntsman. The book drops November 10th in print and digital, and you can read an excerpt and preorder your copy right here!

With seven weeks to go until the November 10th release of my first mass-market novel, I have begun to share sneak peeks of Helena and Declan’s runaway-bride/bodyguard romance.
This fairy-tale inspired Regency Historical gives the happily-ever-after treatment to The Huntsman from Snow White. It’s Book 1 in my “Awakened by a Kiss” series, which follows up with sideline characters from well-known fairy tales.
Watch this space for chapters two and three in coming weeks and preorder A Duchess A Day to begin reading the entire book when it drops on November 10th.

Hardened-mercenary Declan Shaw (known as “The Huntsman”) meets his most-challenging client ever in Lady Helena Lark. Hired to pose as her private groom and “contain” her attempts to run away from an arranged marriage, Declan finds himself falling in love with the spirited beauty instead.
The book drops in print and digital on November 17 (a same-day “first” for my books!). I adore what Avon has done with this gorgeous Autumnal cover, the woodland creatures, and tasty apple. Is it poisoned? Pre-order the book and be among the first to find out!

I’m thrilled to announce the launch of a new series, “Awakened by a Kiss,” which will hit stores and e-readers (on the same day, this is a mass-market deal, my friends!) in late 2020.
The trilogy kicks off with A Duchess A Day, which gives the happily-ever-after treatment to the Huntsman from Snow White. After that, If the Duke Fits finds Drewsilla Tremayne, the formerly wicked stepsister from Cinderella, in her own book. Finally, When You Wish Upon a Duke tells the story of Miss Isobel Tinker (Tinkerbell!).
I’ll be invoking themes, symbols, and plenty of Easter eggs from popular fairy tales to nudge these sideline characters into the spotlight of their own stories. Add the swashbuckle and pageantry of Regency England and a duke or two, and we have the start of a light, dreamy, hilarious new series. I’ve already begun writing two of the books, and it’s a wild, funny, heartfelt ride.
